CR 111 begins at the I-495 interchange as a 5-lane highway. After a brief time in that configuration, the two directions of traffic separate and a 4-lane expressway begins. There is no development visible along the expressway, and woods adorn both the sides and median of the highway. Approaching the CR 51 interchange, the two sides of the highway come back together. There are no BGS’s on the CR 111 expressway, and this small sign at the top of the bridge over CR 51 is the only advance warning motorists get of the approaching interchange with NY 27. Rising out of the farm fields in the area, there is a red deer of some sort. CR 111 is not a freeway, so a “Freeway Ends” sign could not be placed. An “Expressway Ends” sign could not be placed because local freeways have names such as the “Long Island Expressway.” When all else fails, just call it a “highway.” A dramatic ending for the CR 111 expressway, albeit not the ending originally planned. The Pine Barrens stand in the way of any extension of CR 111, so this is nearly definitely as far as the highway will ever reach.
