Advanced signage on US 1 northbound for the Scudders Mill Rd interchange.
Because Scudders Mill Rd does not continue west of here, the loop ramp of the half-cloverleaf serves as a U-turn for traffic heading northbound on US 1. The U-turn is useful as US 1 is a Jersey Freeway here so there are no median breaks in the area. However, there are no plans to extend Scudders Mill Rd to the west because this would cross the scenic area near Carnegie Lake. Instead, the growing demand for improved routes into Princeton will lead to the realignment of Harrison Street, which US 1 intersects less than a mile south of Scudders Mill Rd. The Harrison Street project has been redesigned several times so that it is satisfactory to area homeowners and environmental groups.
At the Campus Drive traffic light. This serves the James Forrestal Campus of Princeton University.
Approaching the traffic light that serves office buildings of both Merrill Lynch and Bristol Myers Squibb.
This is at the College Road traffic light. College Road serves a variety of office buildings before curving west to meet US 1. After the US 1 interchange, College Road continues west to the Princeton Forestal Village, a popular shopping center. After Scudders Mill Road leaves the intersection pictured above, it crosses the Northeast Corridor Line, a heavily-used railroad track.
Approaching the Schalks Crossing Road traffic light. This road serves new subdivisions in the growing township of Plainsboro. Despite the growth, the township is still managing to preserve some tracts of land as memories of its farming history.
As it comes to the end of its existence, Scudders Mill Road downgrades to a 4-lane undivided expressway for a short time.
Finally, the expressway ends at Plainsboro Road. A right turn leads onto westbound Plainsboro Road, and continuing straight leads to eastbound Plainsboro Road.
A view of the Plainsboro Road arterial route east of Scudders Mill Road. This road, although it does not have any driveways, has constant traffic lights in close succession and many entrances to small subdivisions.
