NC 11:

When complete, the NC 11 expressway will stretch from NC 24 in Kenansville to US 13 in Ahoskie, with a short break in Kinston and a ride on the freeway-grade Greenville Bypass.

History and Construction Schedule:

Segment Status
Kenansville Bypass ROW purchase began April 1997. Construction began June 2007. Completed in March 2003.
Kenansville Bypass to Pink Hill To be built after 2012.
Pink Hill to Deep Run Contract let January 21, 2003. Work began March 3, 2003. Completion scheduled for December 31, 2005. Access rights were not purchased as part of this project, so the highway will be a 4-lane Arterial.
Deep Run Bypass The construction contract was awarded on August 4, 2000. Opened August 2002.
Deep Run to US 70 Complete 1985. This highway is a 4-lane arterial.
Through Kinston No expressway planned
North of Kinston to Grifton Complete 1968. This highway is a 4-lane arterial.
Grifton to Ayden Complete 1970
Ayden to Winterville Complete 1974
Southwest Greenville Bypass Planning underway. Design scheduled for 2004. ROW to be purchased in Fall 2006 and 2007. To be built after 2008.
From here, NC 11 follows the US 264 Greenville Bypass
Greenville to Bethel ROW bought November 1995. Construction started October 1997. Completed 2001.
Bethel Bypass ROW bought March 1999. Construction started April 2001. Completion slated for June 16, 2004.
US 64 to US 13 To be built after 2012.

 

 

US 13:

The US 13 expressway is eventually planned to run from Greenville to Virginia, with a 20-mile ride on the US 64 freeway.

History and Construction Schedule:

Segment Status
Greenville to Bethel ROW bought  November 1995. Construction started October 1997. Completed June 2000.
Bethel Bypass ROW bought March 1999. Construction started April 2001. Completion estimated for June 2004.
Multiplexed with US 64 freeway for 20 miles to Williamston
Williamston to Windsor Complete (Date?)
Windsor Bypass Complete 1963
Windsor to Winton To be built after 2012.
Winton Bypass Currently a super-2 expressway, to be widened after 2010.
NC 461 to Virginia ROW to be purchased in 2011. To be built after 2012.

 

 

NC 16:

NC 16 is being constructed to expressway standards between Charlotte and Newton.
